PROJECT DETAIL

OBEROI LUXURY RESORT, LANKANFINOLHU, MALDIVES (concept) >> HOSPITALITY

The environmental issues and challenges in the Maldives mainly relate to global warming, unpredictable weather, and ever-rising water levels in beaches leading to erosion resulting in the loss of habitat that supports local flora and fauna impacting its fragile ecosystem. The landscape strategy hence is proposed to be sustainable and resilient, to maintain and reinforce the existing landscape character, by creating an environmentally balanced landscape, composed of water, local shrubs, ground covers, and trees including palms. The landscape concept also focuses on the conservation of existing flora and fauna and selective native plant species including fruit trees, herbs, and salt-resistant plants. Green buffers further provide shore protection measures. All the public amenities and facilities including the main lobby, restaurant, club, bar lounge, and swimming pool as well as guest cottages and villas are proposed to be located along the sea frontage with a view of the beaches and the horizon. Private gardens and beach villas extend outdoor living areas for guests to swim, dine and rest. The support facilities including administration area, accounts, kitchen and laundry and sports & games areas, are sited in the middle which does not require sea view.
